Boston may have world-class arts institutions, but Worcester is no slouch either. From art museums to performance theatres, there’s plenty of entertainment to choose from during your stay in Massachusetts’ second largest city. Knight’s has pulled together a guide of the area’s must-see venues.
Worcester Art Museum
One of Massachusetts’ best, and most overlooked, arts institutions is the Worcester Art Museum, also known as WAM. Home to more than 35,000 artworks from all over the world, from ancient to contemporary, the Worcester Art Museum has been keeping visitors entertained and informed since 1898. WAM is the second largest art museum in all of New England, and is incredibly well curated and maintained. There are also numerous classes and events throughout the year.

The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts
Originally built in 1904, the Hanover Theatre has been keeping New England residents entertained with their full roster of shows and performances throughout the year. Originally the Franklin Square Theatre, the building originally housed burlesque shows, silent films, and Broadway touring shows. Mechanics Hall
Built in 1857 by the local Mechanics Association to develop their members manufacturing skills, Mechanics Hall has been a fully revived and running performing arts and concert venue wince 1977. Ranked as one of the best concert halls in North America, this Renaissance Revival-style theatre hosts everything from weddings to galas to incredible music performances.
